In the 2025 IPL season, MS Dhoni showcased his lightning-fast stumping skills once again, dismissing Phil Salt during the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Chepauk. This incredible stumping took place in the 5th over after Dhoni made a rare error with DRS in the 3rd over, incorrectly reviewing a delivery by Khaleel Ahmed to Virat Kohli. However, Dhoni quickly redeemed himself, removing Salt after a quick stumping following a delivery from Noor Ahmed. Salt’s foot was off the ground when the stumps were broken, confirmed by the third umpire. This stumping adds to Dhoni's stellar show behind the stumps, as he had previously stumped MI captain Suryakumar Yadav in CSK’s season opener.

Dhoni’s lightning-fast stumping has left his legion of fans in awe as they took to social media to celebrate the heroics of their ‘Thala’, whom they feel is still much better and more precise compared to his successors in the current Indian team, including Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Sanju Samson.

CSK won toss and elected to bowl first

Chennai Super Kings won the toss and elected to bowl first against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Match 8 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the MA Chidambaram on Friday. 

Both teams made a change in their playing XI from the side that played their last match. CSK brought in Matheesha Pathirana in place of Nathan Ellis while RCB included the experienced Bhuvneshwar Kumar in place of Rasik Salam.
