Melbourne: Nitish Reddy has channeled his inner Pushpa after reaching his maiden half-century and displayed a gesture from Pushpa: The Rise, which signifies resilience.
In the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy, after a string of forties, Nitish Kumar Reddy has finally reached his maiden half-century. After scoring the milestone, Reddy imitated the Pushpa gesture, which also drew a reaction from Sunil Gavaskar on commentary.
Reddy reached his half-century after scoring a boundary on a wide delivery from Mitchell Starc. He then took the bat around his neck and replicated the iconic scene performed by Allu Arjun in the movie. The veteran cricketer Sunil Gavaskar immediately took note of this act and said in the commentary, “O…Pushpa”.
Reddy is now India’s third-highest run-scorer and 5th highest run-scorer in this year’s Border Gavaskar Trophy. The batsman has scored 240 runs in the series at an average of 60 and a strike rate of 70.38.
