Karachi: South African all-rounder Marco Jansen pulled off a spectacular diving catch at midwicket here on Saturday in Match 11 of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The stunning effort sent England’s Harry Brook back to the pavilion. The dismissal further weakened England’s innings, which was already struggling against South Africa’s disciplined bowling attack.

The moment unfolded in the 17th over when Keshav Maharaj bowled a tossed up delivery on the leg stump. Brook, attempting to clear midwicket, went for a lofted shot but failed to cover the distance. Jansen, fielding at long-on, reacted swiftly, covering 28 metres in the outfield. With perfect timing, he dived to his right, slid onto his knees, and completed a clean catch, leaving Brook stunned.

Marco Jansen (3/39) took three wickets upfront to reduce England to 37 for three inside seven overs and they failed to stage recovery at any stage in the game.

Joe Root top-scored with 37 but several England batters including skipper Jos Buttler (21), Ben Duckett (24) and even Jofra Archer (25) failed to push on.

Brief Scores:
