Greenfield International Stadium in Karyavattom
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala’s Greenfield International Stadium in Karyavattom has been selected as one of the venues for a T20 international during New Zealand’s 2026 tour of India.
The Black Caps will arrive in January 2026 for a tour comprising three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and five Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). While the full schedule is yet to be officially announced, other matches are set to be held in Jaipur, Mohali, Indore, Rajkot, Guwahati, Hyderabad, and Nagpur.
The series will serve as preparation for the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka in February that year.
According to the BCCI, Greenfield is also expected to host an ODI match in April. Notably, the stadium last hosted a T20 international in November 2023, when India defeated Australia by 44 runs. It also served as a venue for warm-up matches ahead of the 2023 ICC Men’s ODI World Cup.
The stadium had initially been considered for fixtures in the upcoming Women’s Cricket World Cup, which India will host in September. However, it was later dropped due to the venue’s managing agency being unable to fully meet ICC’s security standards, dealing a setback to its inclusion.
