Frustrated fans slam BCCI and BookMyShow over massive delays in ICC Women’s World Cup final ticket sales

As the Indian and South African women’s cricket teams prepare for the ICC Women’s World Cup final, fans are fuming over the unavailability of tickets just a day before the decisive clash. The delay has triggered widespread outrage on social media, with supporters criticising what they see as poor planning and organisational failure by the authorities.
BookMyShow (BMS), the ticketing partner for the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup, has yet to open sales for the final match. Throughout the tournament, ticket prices have started from as low as ₹100, allowing fans from all walks of life to attend. However, with less than 24 hours remaining before the title showdown, many are still unsure when they can purchase their tickets.
Social media platforms have been inundated with posts targeting both the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the International Cricket Council (ICC). Fans have expressed disbelief that a global sporting event of such magnitude could face such last-minute confusion.
This is not an isolated incident. During the Men’s ODI World Cup in 2023, a similar issue arose when tickets for key fixtures were released at the eleventh hour, leaving supporters scrambling to make arrangements.
Excitement for the final has reached unprecedented levels after India’s thrilling semi-final win against defending champions Australia. The women in blue pulled off a stunning chase of 339 runs to book their spot in the final, where they will face South Africa in what promises to be a closely contested battle.
