New Delhi: In one of the most extraordinary finishes in modern cricket, New Delhi Tigers captain Himmat Singh produced a jaw-dropping, freak run-out on the final ball against Outer Delhi Warriors in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026 on Tuesday.

Chasing 156 in a rain-shortened 15-over contest at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Outer Delhi Warriors required just one run off the final delivery to secure victory. Batsman Pratham Saluja squeezed the ball towards mid-on and set off for the winning single. Himmat moved forward to gather the ball but failed to collect it cleanly.

Annoyed by his misfield, the skipper kicked the ball in frustration. The ball flew directly towards the non-striker’s end and struck the stumps, catching Saluja short of his crease before he could complete the winning run. The bizarre direct hit tied the match at 155/9 and dramatically sent the contest into a Super Over.

Earlier in the match, Himmat had played a stellar role with the bat, smashing 61 off just 25 deliveries—featuring four fours and five sixes—to propel New Delhi Tigers to 156/5.

Although Outer Delhi Warriors eventually prevailed in the Super Over by scoring 20 runs and restricting the Tigers to 6/2, Himmat’s accidental kick-turned-direct-hit stood out as the defining moment. The video of the freak dismissal went viral across social media, with fans labelling it one of the most unconventional fielding moments in cricket history.
