In the recent match against Saurashtra, the 25-year-old's impressive bowling performance helped Tamil Nadu secure victory. He conceded just 22 runs in 14 overs, claiming six wickets, which notably included the crucial scalps of Pujara and Sheldon Jackson. Gurjapneet also participated as a net bowler for India during the recent Test series against Bangladesh, where he managed to dismiss Kohli in the nets.
Reflecting on the incident with Kohli, Gurjapneet recounted, "After bowling, I looked back at Kohli. I didn't hesitate to glance again. He was quite irritated. I realised he was angrier at himself than anything else. After a straight drive, he looked at me and smiled."
Gurjapneet mentioned that Kohli had advised him on adjusting his angle to bowl around the wicket when the ball wasn't moving, a tactic that proved effective in the match against Saurashtra. His performances are now making waves, establishing him as a rising star in Indian cricket.
