Dashing Indian wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson is currently basking in the limelight after a sensational run of form, having scored back-to-back centuries in T20 internationals against Bangladesh and South Africa. His remarkable performances have been the talk of the cricketing world, and he has continued to showcase his immense talent on the international stage.

In the latest outing, India secured an 11-run victory over South Africa in the third T20I at SuperSport Park, Centurion, taking a 2-1 lead in the ongoing four-match series. Samson, who is also the captain of Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, is among the most respected young cricketers in India. He has often expressed his gratitude towards the coaches and mentors who have helped shape his cricketing journey.

However, at a time when Samson is seemingly at the peak of his career, an old video of his father, Samson Viswanath, has gone viral for all the wrong reasons. Speaking to a Malayalam news outlet, Viswanath opened up about the struggles his son faced and pointed fingers at several prominent Indian cricketers for what he perceived as their role in stunting his son’s growth.

"There are 3-4 individuals who squandered 10 crucial years of my son's career—captains like Dhoni, Virat, Rohit, and coach Rahul Dravid," Viswanath said in the video. "These four people wasted a decade of his life. However, the more they sidelined him, the stronger Sanju became in overcoming the challenges."

The video has since sparked widespread debate on social media, with many dismissing it as the emotional outburst of a father deeply invested in his son’s career. It’s worth noting that despite being part of India’s T20 World Cup-winning squad earlier this year, Sanju Samson didn’t get a chance to play in a single match.

However, after enduring numerous setbacks, it was Suryakumar Yadav and Gautam Gambhir who showed trust in Samson, and the Kerala-born cricketer repaid that faith with blistering innings. The recent back-to-back centuries have been a testament to his resilience and determination—a true redemption story in the making. (With inputs from Agencies)
