Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) player Dwayne Smith shared rare insights into moments when the usually calm MS Dhoni lost his temper. The video interview has gone viral ever since. Smith, who played under Dhoni at CSK, emphasised the legendary captain's composed nature and leadership style, saying, “If Dhoni gets angry, you must have done something really bad.”

Smith recalled two specific incidents where he witnessed Dhoni’s anger. The first occurred during a match when R. Ashwin dropped a regulation catch. Dhoni, visibly upset, immediately moved Ashwin out of the slip position — a rare display of frustration from the captain.

The second instance happened off the field. Dhoni had ordered food, but the hotel staff blocked its delivery, which infuriated him. In response, Dhoni left the hotel and immediately shifted to a different one — in fact, taking the entire team with him. Smith didn’t name the hotel but confirmed it was one of the few times he saw Dhoni genuinely angry.

'We need to play on better tracks'

Mahendra Singh Dhoni has urged the curators at the Chepauk to prepare better surfaces which can give his batters the confidence to play their shots as he doesn't want Chennai Super Kings to play timid cricket.

Dhoni's 11-ball 26 was instrumental in CSK's win over Lucknow Super Giants after the five-time champions snapped their four-match losing streak, which also included three defeats at home.

CSK have been invincible at 'Fortress Chepauk' over the years but the 'Yellow Brigade' is yet to open its account at home this season.
