Sutar joins legendary Maharashtrian batter Bhausahab Babasaheb Nimbalkar in an elite two-member Indian club.

Nagaland: Mizoram batter Chinmay Sutar scripted history on Monday by becoming only the second Indian cricketer to reach the 400-run mark in first-class cricket. He achieved the historic milestone on Day 2 of the Ranji Trophy Plate Group encounter against Nagaland.
Sutar joins legendary Maharashtrian batsman Bhausahab Babasaheb Nimbalkar in an elite two-member Indian club. Nimbalkar held the sole record for 78 years following his unbeaten 443 for Maharashtra against Kathiawar in 1948.
The former Mumbai Vijay Hazare Trophy player anchored Mizoram's innings, remaining undefeated on exactly 400 off 517 deliveries in a masterclass featuring 46 boundaries and seven towering sixes. His mammoth effort powered Mizoram to declare their first innings at a commanding 581 for nine.
Sutar's push toward the landmark featured a heroic final-wicket stand. When last man Lalrempuia Chhakchhuak walked out to the crease with the score at 392 for nine, Sutar was sitting on 231. The duo forged an unbroken 189-run partnership for the tenth wicket, with Sutar contributing an astonishing 169 of those runs himself, while Chhakchhuak held up his end firmly with 14 not out.
West Indian legend Brian Lara continues to hold the all-time world record for the highest individual first-class score, having smashed 501 not out for Warwickshire against Durham in 1994.
