Abu Dhabi: Bangladesh began their Asia Cup 2025 campaign with a commanding victory against Hong Kong at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, securing a seven-wicket win in their Group B clash. Hong Kong posted a total of 143 for 7 in their 20 overs, achieving a respectable score supported by the disciplined batting of Nizakat Khan and Yasim Murtaza, who top-scored with 42 and scored a quick 28, respectively. However, the rest of the Hong Kong batting line-up struggled to maintain momentum, often mistiming deliveries and losing wickets at crucial moments.

Bangladesh’s bowlers, including Taskin Ahmed and Tanzim Hasan Sakib, applied consistent pressure, taking early wickets and restricting Hong Kong’s scoring rate, especially in the middle overs when the Hong Kong batsmen tried to accelerate.

In response, Bangladesh's chase was anchored by captain Litton Das, who scored an assertive 59 runs off 39 balls. He was ably supported by Towhid Hridoy, who remained unbeaten on 35 to guide Bangladesh to 144 for 3 in 17.4 overs, sealing the victory with 14 balls to spare.

Bangladesh will look to continue their strong start when they face Sri Lanka, while Hong Kong will aim to challenge Sri Lanka and keep their hopes alive.
