Former Australia captain Steve Smith will make his Pakistan Super League debut after signing with newly introduced franchise Sialkot Stallionz for the PSL 2026 season. The team confirmed the signing on Tuesday, securing Smith through the league’s direct overseas signing provision for players who did not feature in the previous edition. As one of the PSL’s two new teams, Sialkot Stallionz are expected to build their inaugural campaign around Smith’s experience and leadership, with the veteran batter also emerging as a potential captaincy option.

Smith arrives in strong form, having impressed in the recent Big Bash League with Sydney Sixers, where he scored 299 runs in six matches at an average of 59.80, including a century and two half-centuries, helping the side reach the final. Despite going unsold in the IPL 2025 auction, Smith remains a proven T20 performer, with over 6,200 runs in 272 matches.
