Indian opener Abhishek Sharma has been hospitalised with a stomach infection and is doubtful for India’s T20 World Cup match against Namibia, though the team hopes he will be fit for the Pakistan game.

Mumbai: Indian opener Abhishek Sharma has been hospitalised in Delhi due to a stomach infection, putting his availability in doubt for India’s T20 World Cup match against Namibia on Thursday.
A BCCI source confirmed that the 25-year-old has been under medical observation for the past two days. “Abhishek has been admitted to a private hospital in Delhi due to stomach infection. Some tests are being done to ascertain the problem. It is still not clear whether he will be discharged today. But match against Namibia looks doubtful as of now,” the source said.
Team management, however, remains hopeful that Sharma will recover in time for India’s high-profile clash against Pakistan in Colombo on February 15.
It is learnt that Sharma had attended a team dinner at head coach Gautam Gambhir’s residence on Sunday but left early after feeling unwell.
Further updates on his condition are awaited from the team management.
