India enters Day 9 of the Asian Games 2026 with a packed schedule and several opportunities to add to its medal tally across shooting, athletics, boxing, kurash and other disciplines.

Shooting will be among the first major attractions of the day, with Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh and Rahi Sarnobat set to compete in the women's 25m pistol qualification rapid stage and team event. Bhaker will be looking to bounce back after missing out on the medal round in the 10m pistol event. If the Indian shooters qualify, the individual 25m pistol final is scheduled for 10:45 am.

India will also have representation in women's trap, with Neeru, Aashima Ahlawat and Manisha Keer competing in the qualification and team event.

Kynan Chenai, Shapath Bharadwaj and Ahvar Rizvi will feature in the men's trap competition.

Kurash will provide another early medal opportunity, with Pincky Balhara competing in the women's 78kg quarterfinals, followed by the semifinal and medal bouts.

Cricket, boxing and squash also on India's schedule

The Indian men's cricket team will take on Afghanistan in the quarterfinal at 10 am.

The knockout match will be one of the day's major fixtures as India targets a place in the semifinals.

In boxing, Priya will face Tajikistan's Mijgona Samadova in the women's 60kg quarterfinal at 2:15 pm.

Kapil Pokhariya will meet South Korea's Kim Gichae in the men's 90kg quarterfinal at 3:45 pm, while Lovlina Borgohain will face South Korea's Seong Suyeon in the women's 75kg quarterfinal at 4 pm.

Squash will see India take on China in the men's and women's team events.

The men's team faces China at 8:30 am, while the women's team will meet China at 8:30 am and Japan at noon. India's men's team will also face South Korea at 2 pm.

Hockey action is scheduled for 3:30 pm, when India takes on Bangladesh in a men's Pool A encounter.

Athletics set for a busy medal session

The athletics programme will provide India with several medal opportunities in the afternoon.

  • Seema and Sanya Yadav will compete in the women's discus throw final at 2:35 pm.
  • Vithya Ramaraj and Anu Raghavan will then line up in the women's 400m hurdles final at 3:53 pm, followed by Santhosh Kumar Tamilarasan in the men's 400m hurdles final at 4:03 pm.
  • Avinash Sable will be among India's key medal contenders in the men's 3000m steeplechase final at 4:13 pm.
  • Five minutes later, Sreeshankar Murali will compete in the men's long jump final at 4:25 pm. Gulveer Singh will then take the track for the men's 1500m final at 4:35 pm, with Yoonus Shah also representing India.
  • The men's javelin throw final will follow at 4:45 pm, featuring Rohit Yadav and Yash Vir Singh.
  • India will have more medal opportunities later in the evening. Seema and Parul Chaudhary will compete in the women's 5000m final at 5:13 pm, while India's women's 4x100m relay team of Abinaya Rajarajan, Tamanna, Sneha Sathyanarayana and Sudeshna Shivankar will contest the final at 6:34 pm.
  • The day's schedule also includes mixed and men's relay heats, along with women's 800m heats.
  • Tennis will see Sumit Nagal take on South Korea's Hong Seong-chan in the men's singles second round, while Ankita Raina and Rutuja Bhosale will begin their women's doubles campaign against Kazakhstan's Anna Danilina and Yuliya Putinseva.

With multiple finals spread across the afternoon and evening, Day 9 promises a busy medal hunt for India at the Asian Games 2026.
