Pathanamthitta: LDF candidate in Pathanamthitta Thomas Isaac was admonished by the District Collector who is also the Chief Electoral Officer following an inquiry into the allegations that Isaac was misusing Kudumbashree for election campaigning.
District Collector S Prem Krishnan sent a letter to Isaac in this regard on the previous day.
UDF district chairman Varghese Maman had filed a complaint pointing out the violation of the model code of conduct. As per the complaint, Isaac had promised a loan from the Women Development Corporation to all those who participated in a Kudumbashree meeting held at Thekkekara Panchayat in Pandalam. It also alleged that the candidate is using all the facilities of the K-DISC for his election campaigning, following which the District Collector sought an explanation from Isaac.
Isaac then responded to it, stating that there was nothing wrong in seeking votes during a Kudumbashree meeting. It is learnt that on a thorough examination, the Collector got convinced of the breach of code of conduct. The Collector had also checked the videos of the particular meeting. The Collector then reprimanded the LDF candidate and directed not to repeat the violation.
The Collector has reported the same to the State Electoral Officer.
