Thiruvananthapuram: The last day to apply for postal votes for the Lok Sabha elections is Tuesday. The application should be made to the electoral officer of the respective constituency where the name of the individual is present on the electoral roll. Applications can be made through nodal officers of the district in which the individual works or in person.
Absentee voters are eligible for postal voting. People above 85 years of age, differently-abled persons with disability of not less than 40 percent, patients with Covid-19 and those working in essential service sectors can make use of postal voting. The first three categories mentioned here will be given the opportunity to vote at home facilitated by booth-level officers.
Police, fire force, jail, excise, Milma, electricity, water authority, KSRTC, Treasury, health, forest, central government institutions, journalists, Kochi metro rail, etc are included in the essential services category.
