Thiruvananthapuram: LDF has lodged a complaint against Rajeev Chandrasekhar, NDA candidate from Thiruvananthapuram for the upcoming LS polls. In the complaint submitted to the Election Commission (EC), the LDF has accused the NDA candidate of allegedly furnishing false information in his affidavit. The Union Minister is being accused of providing misleading information related to his wealth. The Left front points out that in the affidavit submitted by the BJP leader, there is no mention of Jupiter Capital which was founded by him.
Earlier, Mahila Congress leader and lawyer Avani Bansal had come forward with a complaint accusing Rajeev of entering false information in his nomination papers. The complaint was filed to the Election Commission of India, Collector Thiruvananthapuram, and the EC observer.
In her complaint, Avani Bhansal said that, "I am a voter in BTM Layout Assembly Constituency, Bengaluru, Karnataka, where Rajeev was contesting for Rajya Sabha. I have filed multiple petitions in the Delhi High Court and Supreme Court with the Election Commission with regard to the false affidavit filed by Mr. Rajeev Chandrasekhar in the 2018 Rajya Sabha Elections. However, the petition is still stuck with the Election Commission, despite multiple follow-ups. Upon careful examination of Mr. Rajeev Chandrasekhar's affidavit submitted for the election nominations, it has become apparent that numerous discrepancies exist between the declared assets and his actual wealth."
It has been said in Rajeev’s affidavit that the income that has come under the income tax limit for FY 2021-2022 is only Rs 680. He has disclosed assets worth Rs. 28 crore. However, Avani Bansal alleges that Rajeev Chandrasekhar has not disclosed information about his major companies, including Jupiter Capital.
Avani Bansal, who claimed that Rajeev Chandrasekhar had not disclosed the ownership of his residence in Bengaluru, also released his property tax receipts.
She has filed a complaint with the Thiruvananthapuram district collector. Even the UDF has demanded to reject the NDA candidate’s nomination on these grounds. (With inputs from PTI)
