Kozhikode: Four election officials were arrested and subsequently released on bail in connection with an incident involving a voting mix-up during a vote-at-home process in Peruvayal, Kozhikode. The arrests were carried out under the supervision of Mavoor Sub-Inspector PN Muraleedharan.
The individuals arrested include Special Polling Officer KT Manjusha, Assistant Professor at Kodenchery Government College; Polling Officer CV Fahmida, UP Assistant at Parappil MMVHSS; Micro Observer PK Anees, Assistant Professor at Kozhikode Government Law College; and Booth Level Officer Hareesh Kumar, teacher at Mannur CMHSS.
The incident in question occurred last Friday at booth number 84 situated within the Kunnamangalam constituency of the Kozhikode parliamentary constituency. It was revealed that due to the negligence of the officials, the vote allocated to a voter was altered.
The situation arose when Kodassery Janaki Amma (80) cast a house vote on behalf of Payampurath Janaki Amma (91).
