Kozhikode: The smooth running of a magnificent event like Kerala State School Kalolsavam relies on numerous individuals' hard work and dedication. The student police cadets stand out among them because of their immaculate service and attention to detail, which earns them praise from everyone. From crowd control to parking issues to assisting pedestrians to cross the street, their presence is crucial at every Kalolsavam venue.

Student Police Cadet Muhammad Finan, a tenth grade student at GVHSS Payyanakkal, Kozhikode, shared his experience. "There are around 18 student police cadets from our school working at this venue. We were trained and instructed by the Kerala Police beforehand for this event. We report to the venue every morning at 8 am and the sub-inspector assigns us different tasks. We are free after 2 PM in the afternoon. We manage traffic here, so I wouldn't say the work is simple, but everyone here is quite interested in doing it. The police department has been very supportive and is always ready to assist during emergency. Managing a large event like Kalolsavam is undoubtedly an unforgettable experience. Each day is a new adventure," he said. Finan also shared that he wishes to join the Fire Force someday.

Launched in 2010, the student police cadet (SPC) project is a school-based initiative of the Kerala Police, supported by the departments of transport, forest, excise, and local self-government. It is jointly implemented by the departments of home and education. By instilling in high school pupils a respect for the law, discipline, civic awareness, empathy for weaker members of society, and resistance to societal evils, the project prepares them to become future leaders of a democratic society.

In the vicinity of the 24 venues in the city, almost 1,500 SPCs are on the scene aiding the police, organising committee members, and other volunteers. Along with NSS, other field volunteers are also co-operating with SPCs to manage the events.
