FBI Director Kash Patel accused of using $60M jet for personal trips to see girlfriend, country singer Alexis Wilkins

A young singer has unexpectedly found herself in the centre of a political storm in Washington. Alexis Wilkins, a rising star in Nashville’s country scene and Capitol Hill press secretary, is facing intense public attention after reports linked her to FBI Director Kash Patel, who was accused of using a government aircraft to visit her in Pennsylvania.
The allegations stated that Kash Patel used a government aircraft worth USD 60 million to visit his girlfriend, country music artist Alexis Wilkins, in Pennsylvania. The claim, which first appeared on former FBI agent Kyle Seraphin’s podcast, suggested Patel used taxpayer money for personal reasons while many government employees faced delayed pay because of an ongoing shutdown.
However, the FBI quickly dismissed the claims, calling them “disingenuous.” The agency explained that under federal rules, the FBI Director must always travel on government aircraft, including for personal trips. This rule is in place so the Director can have immediate access to secure communications if an emergency arises. The FBI further clarified that Patel follows the proper procedure by reimbursing the government in advance for personal travel.
What did Kash Patel say about the allegations?
Kash Patel strongly criticised the accusations and those spreading them. In a statement, he condemned both his political rivals and his own supporters who had stayed silent. Defending Wilkins, he said the outrage had gone too far.
“The disgustingly baseless attacks against Alexis, a true patriot and the woman I’m proud to call my partner in life, are beyond pathetic,” Patel said.
He went on to describe her as a “rock-solid conservative and a country music sensation,” saying she had done more for the country than most people “in ten lifetimes.” He added that targeting her was “cowardly” and had put both their safety at risk.
Ben Williamson, the Assistant Director for Public Affairs, also stood by Patel. He explained that FBI Directors are not allowed to use commercial flights.
“They are required-use travellers under federal regulations,” Williamson stated. “This is mandated by Congress.”
Williamson further clarified that Patel’s personal travel is limited, carefully monitored, and fully reimbursed, contradicting claims that taxpayer money was used for the alleged trip.
Who is Alexis Wilkins?
At the centre of this controversy is 26-year-old Alexis Wilkins, a rising country music singer who also works in politics. She currently serves as a Capitol Hill Press Secretary for Representative Abe Hamadeh.
Wilkins was born on 3 November 1999 in Boston. She comes from a family with deep military and immigrant roots. Her father, whose parents were Armenian immigrants, served in the US Navy during the Korean War before joining Gillette. Her mother has worked in both the aerospace and pharmaceutical industries.
Wilkins began her musical career with the release of her first single Holdin’ On in 2020. Three years later, in 2023, she launched her debut EP Grit, which reached number four on the iTunes chart. Alongside her music career, she holds a bachelor’s degree in business and political science from Belmont University.
