The UAE National Centre of Meteorology issued a flash flood alert on Wednesday after heavy downpours lashed Shees and Wadi Al Helo in Sharjah. Valid from 3 pm to 8 pm on October 28, the warning urged residents and drivers to avoid flood-prone mountainous spots where water accumulates rapidly in valleys.

Footage shared by Storm Centre on X revealed heavy rain in Fujairah. Meanwhile, video clips from Shees displayed wet roads, moving vehicles, and reduced visibility against mountains and palm trees.

This unstable weather follows heavy rain and hail on Tuesday across Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah, where Shawka recorded 21.2 mm of rain. Officials have asked motorists to slow down on wet roads and steer clear of valleys. On Wednesday, winds up to 50 km/h around cloud formations triggered blowing dust across northern and eastern areas.

Forecast and city temperatures for coming days

Shower chances persist over eastern and southern zones on Thursday, with further rain likely in eastern parts on Friday and Saturday.

Thursday, October 29, will be fair to partly cloudy. Rain-bearing convective clouds could form northward and eastward, extending to some internal areas. Southeasterly to northeasterly winds blowing at 10 to 25 km/h may reach 50 km/h with clouds, causing dust storms. Seas will stay slight in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea.

By Thursday night and Friday morning, humidity will rise over coastal and inland areas, particularly westward, raising chances of morning mist. Major city temperatures will peak at 37ºC in Dubai and Sharjah, and 35ºC in Abu Dhabi, falling to night lows of 27ºC, 24ºC, and 25ºC respectively
