Donald Trump says the new White House ballroom will be bulletproof, missile-proof and drone-proof, with five underground levels and advanced security features.

US President Donald Trump has described his proposed White House ballroom as a heavily fortified structure capable of withstanding attacks involving drones, bullets and missiles. Speaking at the construction site on Wednesday, Trump said the venue was being designed with extensive security features to protect the President and visiting world leaders.
"It's drone proof, it's missile proof, it's bulletproof," Trump said as workers prepared to install the final steel beam of the project.
He called the structure "the safest place in Washington", claiming its reinforced roof would be strong enough to support helicopters. Trump also said the roof was being designed as a drone port that could accommodate more than 100 drones.
Trump revealed that the project included five storeys of underground construction, with the military incorporating facilities it had wanted for decades. However, he did not disclose details of the underground arrangements.
The ballroom is expected to accommodate between 2,000 and 2,500 guests, making it a much larger venue for official dinners and state events. Trump said the existing reception spaces at the White House were too small to host some large gatherings.
The design includes a ceiling more than 50 feet high, marble flooring, glass features and tall Corinthian limestone columns. A glass passage is also planned to connect the new ballroom with the existing White House buildings, while the kitchen will be located below the main floor.
Trump says project is ahead of schedule
The President said construction was progressing ahead of schedule and under budget. He also maintained that the project was being funded by private donors rather than taxpayers.
The installation of the final structural beam marked a major stage in construction. More than 500 workers were present at the site, with the beam signed by construction workers before Trump added his signature.
Although Trump did not announce a confirmed opening date, he suggested the ballroom could be ready around July next year, depending on the remaining work.
