Washington DC: Tesla CEO and billionaire Elon Musk took aim at Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, predicting Trudeau's defeat in the next Canadian federal election, scheduled to take place on or before Oct. 20, 2025. Musk, reacting to a post on X about Germany’s “socialist government” collapsing, stated, “He will be gone in the upcoming election.”
This election is expected to serve as a major test for Trudeau, who has led Canada’s Liberal Party since 2013 and currently presides over a minority government, making him potentially vulnerable to a shift in power. Trudeau’s Liberal Party will be contending with the Conservative Party, led by Pierre Poilievre, as well as the New Democratic Party, led by Jagmeet Singh. The Bloc Quebecois and the Green Party will also be vying for seats in Parliament.
Musk’s criticism extended to Germany, where he labeled German Chancellor Olaf Scholz a “fool” following the collapse of Scholz’s three-party coalition. Posting in German on X, Musk wrote, “Olaf ist ein Narr,” which translates to “Olaf is a fool.” Scholz fired his finance minister, Christian Lindner, earlier in the week, a decision Scholz described as necessary “to prevent harm to our country.” The firing comes amid fears that the anticipated return of a Republican administration in the U.S. could further strain Germany’s already struggling economy, according to CNN.
Trudeau’s challenges at home are intensifying as opposition leaders gain traction. Peoples Party of Canada leader Maxime Bernier criticized Trudeau’s handling of immigration and government spending. Bernier argued that Canada must “cut government spending, cut taxes, cut excessive red tape, get rid of its costly and inefficient climate policy, abolish all its insane DEI programs, stop mass immigration, and create a business climate where workers, entrepreneurs, and investors can thrive.” He added that failing to make these changes could lead Canada to lose competitive ground to the U.S., resulting in “a major brain drain and loss of investments, and our standard of living will drop like a rock.”
Relations between India and Canada have also soured in recent months. India has expressed ongoing concerns about extremism and anti-India activities in Canada and urged Canadian authorities to take appropriate action. Diplomatic tensions escalated further when Canadian leaders alleged, without presenting evidence, that India was involved in the killing of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, prompting India to recall its High Commissioner from Canada.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently condemned the “deliberate attack” on a Hindu temple in Canada, describing it as a “cowardly attempt to intimidate” Indian diplomats. Modi called on Canadian authorities to uphold justice and ensure the rule of law in light of these incidents. ANI
