Washington: Taylor Swift, one of the music industry's biggest stars, endorsed Kamala Harris for president shortly after the debate ended on Tuesday night.

She revealed that she was motivated to publicly disclose her voting intentions after artificial intelligence-generated content falsely claiming she endorsed Donald Trump circulated online. This incident heightened her concerns about the dangers of AI-driven misinformation and its potential impact on the election.

"I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos," Swift wrote in an Instagram post.

Taylor Swift emphasized the importance of transparency in combating misinformation, stating, "The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth."

She expressed her admiration for Senator Harris's choice of running mate, Tim Walz, citing his long-standing support for LGBTQ+ rights and women's reproductive rights.

"I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades," she added.

Swift encouraged voters to conduct their own research and make informed decisions in the lead-up to the election. She assured her fans that she had done her own research and made her choice, but emphasized that individual voters should take ownership of their decisions.

"I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make," the singer said.

Slamming Republican vice-presidential candidate JD Vance's comments about childless women, Swift signed off as "Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady," asserting her independence and individuality.

Swift has a dedicated following among young women, a key demographic in the November election.
