Moscow: The capital of Russia, is abuzz with allegations of an assassination attempt on ousted Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, who has been residing in Russia under political asylum. The claim was made on the X account 'General SVR,' reportedly operated by a former Russian spy.
The report states that Assad experienced sudden health issues on Sunday afternoon, including severe coughing and difficulty breathing. Security personnel provided him with water, but his condition did not improve. Doctors were called to examine him and allegedly discovered toxins in his body.
Assad is currently receiving medical care in an apartment in Moscow, with reports indicating that his health is improving. However, Russian authorities have not issued any official response to these claims.
The former Syrian leader sought refuge in Russia on December 8, following the rebel takeover of Syria. Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov later confirmed that Assad had been granted political asylum, a decision made by President Vladimir Putin. Although the poisoning allegations remain unverified, the report has drawn widespread attention, further complicating Assad’s already controversial presence in Russia.
