Residential areas, hospitals, and infrastructure were targeted, causing significant damage, particularly in Shevchenkivskyi district where a building partially collapsed

Kyiv: A devastating Russian drone and missile attack on Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, has resulted in at least nine deaths and numerous injuries. The attacks targeted residential areas, hospitals, and sports infrastructure across multiple districts in Kyiv, with the most severe damage reported in the Shevchenkivskyi district.
In the Shevchenkivskyi district, a five-story apartment building partially collapsed, trapping people under the rubble. Rescue workers and firefighters are working tirelessly to remove debris and locate survivors. According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, six people were confirmed dead in the district, and ten others, including a pregnant woman, were rescued from a nearby high-rise building that sustained heavy damage.
The attacks also hit other areas of Ukraine, including the Chernihiv region, where two people were killed and ten wounded, including three children. Another person was killed and eight wounded in the city of Bila Tserkva, around 85 kilometres southwest of Kyiv.
Russia launched a total of 352 exploding drones and decoys, 11 ballistic missiles, and five cruise missiles at Ukraine overnight. Ukraine's air defences intercepted or jammed 339 drones and 15 missiles, but the attacks still caused significant damage and loss of life. Russia's Defense Ministry claimed its air defences shot down 23 Ukrainian drones overnight.
The attacks come nearly a week after a combined Russian attack on Ukraine killed 28 people in Kyiv, 23 of them in a residential building that collapsed after sustaining a direct hit by a missile.
