The incident took place during a live performance, when a female audience member attempted to catch the rapper’s attention.

A 21-year-old Chinese rapper, Apmozart, is being widely praised online after he paused his concert in Hangzhou, in China’s Zhejiang province, to assist a woman who alleged she had been sexually assaulted during the event.
The incident took place during a live performance, when a female audience member attempted to catch the rapper’s attention, according to a report by the South China Morning Post (SCMP). Initially assuming she was a fan, Apmozart handed her the microphone. To the shock of the crowd, the woman then said aloud: “The pervert ‘discharged’ onto my leg.” She went on to describe the man as overweight, wearing grey clothing, with greasy hair and of a similar height to herself.
Upon realising the gravity of the situation, Apmozart responded immediately: “Let’s go catch him,” he declared, urging staff to close the venue doors and review the CCTV footage. He reassured the victim that either he or the police would make sure the man was caught, encouraging her to stay and enjoy the rest of the concert.
The crowd responded with enthusiastic support, cheering the rapper’s actions.
While the suspect initially escaped, Hangzhou police confirmed the following day that a 25-year-old man, identified by the surname Luo, had been arrested at his home on the same night. He now faces criminal detention of up to 15 days under China’s Public Security Administration Punishments Law.
According to Apmozart, although the venue had been secured and law enforcement had been contacted immediately, the suspect managed to slip away at the time. However, police were able to track him down thanks to the venue’s surveillance footage and video clips submitted by audience members.
Speaking later during a livestream, the rapper praised the victim for her courage, saying: “She was very brave. The show’s organiser and the police also did a great job.” He used the opportunity to urge women to stand up for their rights and preserve evidence if subjected to sexual harassment.
Apmozart’s quick and composed response earned widespread admiration online. Many users referred to him as “Captain Justice,” a title that has now stuck.
Social media users also applauded the victim’s bravery and the swift action of Hangzhou police. One person wrote: “She is very brave to speak up at the site. If she did not do this, she might not be able to prove what happened and bring the pervert to justice.” Another added: “Well done, Hangzhou police, for reacting fast.”
Hangzhou has earned a reputation for taking strong measures against sexual misconduct. In 2023, the city began publicly listing the names of metro molesters and the punishments they received on government platforms—a move that gained widespread support and sparked calls for similar transparency across China.
Apmozart has over 35,000 followers on social media.
