A powerful explosion near a railway line in Pakistan’s Balochistan province injured at least 20 people on Sunday, triggering a major emergency response in Quetta. Authorities said the blast took place near Chaman Phatak railway station, damaging a train, several vehicles and nearby buildings.

Police said a train suffered partial damage in the explosion, while at least 10 vehicles parked near the site were also hit. The impact shattered windows and glass panels of nearby structures, according to local reports.

Rescue officials confirmed that at least 20 people were injured in the blast. Several of the wounded were shifted to hospitals in Quetta for treatment.

Following the incident, the administration declared an emergency in government hospitals across the city. Doctors, paramedics and additional medical staff were called in to manage the situation amid fears that the casualty count could rise.

Railway authorities immediately halted the Peshawar-bound Jaffar Express at Quetta Railway Station as a precautionary measure after the blast.

Babar Yousafzai, spokesperson for the home minister, said all relevant institutions had been placed on high alert following the incident. He also appealed to residents not to gather near the blast site so emergency personnel could carry out rescue work without obstruction.
