At least 43 deaths have been reported in Kerr County, with many still missing, including 27 children

Kerrville: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has conveyed his profound sorrow over the tragic loss of lives, particularly children, in the devastating floods that have struck Texas, United States. His condolences come as authorities report a surging death toll and ongoing search efforts in the ravaged region.
"Deeply saddened to learn about loss of lives, especially children in the devastating floods in Texas. Our condolences to the US Government and the bereaved families," Prime Minister Modi posted on X.
The severe floods in Texas were triggered by a powerful storm that unleashed nearly a foot of rain, causing the Guadalupe River to surge destructively through Kerr County, a hilly region known for its century-old summer camps. The calamity has tragically claimed at least 51 lives in Kerr County alone, including 15 children.
State officials confirmed that a grim search is underway for 27 girls from Camp Mystic, a riverside Christian summer camp located in Hunt, Texas, who remain unaccounted for approximately 36 hours after the floodwaters hit. Rescue teams are actively engaged in operations, utilising helicopters, boats, and drones, to locate missing persons and assist those trapped. Flash flood warnings also remain active across parts of central Texas, with further heavy rainfall anticipated, posing ongoing challenges for relief efforts.
