Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir has been promoted to the rank of Field Marshal for his leadership during the recent conflict with India

Islamabad: In a significant move, Pakistan on Tuesday promoted its Army Chief, General Asim Munir, to the rank of Field Marshal. The announcement was made following a federal cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
State-run Pakistan Television (PTV) reported that the decision to elevate Munir was taken in recognition of his “exemplary role” in leading the military during the recent conflict with India. The report did not specify details of the conflict or its outcomes.
The rank of Field Marshal is the highest possible military rank in Pakistan, rarely conferred. General Munir’s promotion is being viewed as both a symbolic and strategic gesture, underscoring his growing influence in the country’s political and security landscape.
No official comment has yet been issued by the Indian government.
