Seoul, South Korea: A fire at an auto parts factory in the central city of Daejeon has left at least 50 people injured, officials confirmed on Friday.

The National Fire Agency reported that 35 of the injured sustained serious injuries.

Video footage from the scene showed thick grey smoke rising from the factory complex.

“It wasn’t immediately clear how many workers remained inside the facility,” the agency said, warning that the number of casualties could rise.

To tackle the blaze, more than 110 firefighters and 44 fire vehicles were deployed to the site, the agency added.

More details awaited.
