Tehran: An Israeli airstrike targeted a railway bridge in central Iran on Tuesday, killing two people and injuring three others, according to Iranian state media.

The strike hit the Yahya Abad railway bridge in the city of Kashan, located in Isfahan province. Akbar Salehi, a senior regional security official and deputy governor, confirmed the casualties to the Mehr News Agency, characterising the event as an attack by "the American-Zionist aggressor."

As per reports from Al Jazeera, the assault resulted in the deaths of two individuals described by local officials as "martyrs," while three others were transported to nearby medical facilities for treatment.

Preemptive Military Warning

The strike occurred shortly after the Israeli military issued a rare public warning directed at the Iranian populace. In a statement posted to social media, an Israel Defence Forces spokesperson urged civilians to avoid using the national rail network for their own "safety" until 9 p.m. local time (17:30 GMT).

"Being present on trains or near railways puts your lives at risk," the military cautioned, though it did not specify which locations were being targeted. Following the warning, several regional governors reportedly suspended train services, including routes to and from Mashhad, Iran's second-largest city.
