The US Secret Service has confirmed it is aware of an Iranian state media video appearing to threaten Barron Trump's life amid rising tensions.

Washington: The US Secret Service has confirmed it is aware of an Iranian state media video that appears to threaten the life of President Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump.
Secret Service spokesperson Nate Herring said the agency investigates anything that could be perceived as a threat to people under its protection, but declined to discuss details of its protective intelligence.
“The US Secret Service is aware of the video and investigates anything that can be perceived as a threat toward our protectees,” Herring said in a statement. “Out of concern for operational security, we do not discuss matters of protective intelligence.”
The confirmation does not establish that Barron Trump faces an imminent or confirmed attack. Rather, it shows that the US agency responsible for protecting him is aware of the material and is treating it as a potential threat.
What did the Iranian video show?
The nearly three-minute video, aired by Iranian state broadcaster IRIB, appears to single out Barron Trump and features references to locations where the 20-year-old is publicly known to spend time. The video has been described as part of a wider stream of threatening content targeting Trump and members of his family.
Reports about the broadcast have also said it claimed to track Barron’s movements and security arrangements. Some of those claims have not been independently verified.
The development is particularly concerning because Iranian media have previously circulated threats directed at President Trump and other members of his family.
Why is Iran targeting the Trump family?
The threats have emerged amid the escalating US-Iran conflict and intensified after the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Iranian media have on multiple occasions circulated material threatening Trump and his family since the assassination. The killing came at the start of the war in Iran launched by Trump alongside Israel.

For now, the Secret Service has not publicly indicated that an attack against Barron Trump is imminent. Its statement instead confirms that the video has entered the agency’s threat assessment and protective intelligence process.
