Kochi: Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) has been recognized as the world's leading business incubator in public sector at the 2021-22 World Incubation Summit of UBI Global held in Belgium. State Electronics and IT Secretary Dr Rathan U Kelkar, along with KSUM CEO Anoop Ambika, received the prestigious award. UBI Global, an innovation intelligence platform based in Stockholm, Sweden, conducted the evaluation process.

KSUM stood out among global incubation institutions after a comprehensive analysis of applications using a data-driven approach. The selection was based on the strength of KSUM's incubation programs, the value provided to client startups and the local startup ecosystem, as well as its overall appeal as an incubator, said Joshua Sowah, head of research at UBI Global.

The various Virtual Incubation Programmes for Startups, Fail Fast or Succeed Programme, Physical Incubation Support for Startups, a systematic funding system, and international standard Super Fab Lab are some of the key factors that contributed to KSUM's top position.

Expressing his views on the recognition, Rathan Kelkar highlighted the positive impact it will have on attracting more investments to Kerala's startup sector. Anup Ambika, the CEO of KSUM, emphasised the significance of the organisation's virtual incubation programs, physical incubation support, and funding system in achieving this remarkable feat.

The accolade reinforces KSUM's commitment to nurturing startups and providing a conducive environment for their growth.
