Kochi: KCPMC Ltd, a leading player in the cardamom trade, has launched a new portal called 'elaichi online' (www.elaichi.online) to auction cardamom online. The company has developed this online platform to ensure easy auctions during this pandemic time. A Delhi-based startup ‘Intello Labs’ has given all the technical help.
The portal, which started operations last week, sold more than 65 tonnes of cardamom at its first auction itself. KCPMC claims to be using technically advanced imaging equipment and algorithms to understand the nature of the cardamom. It contains all the information about the grade, litre weight and colour of the cardamom, said, Managing Director of KCPMC Ltd, Jojo George.
Merchants from Kerala and Tamil Nadu find it difficult to travel during the pandemic and this online facility helps them participate in the online auction. Jojo George said he expects the number of auctions to increase as more people will take part in the future.
