Currency expert Anil Kumar Bhansali has criticised the Tamil Nadu government for using a different Rupee symbol in its State Budget, calling it unconstitutional.

Bhansali stated that the Rupee is the national currency of India and does not belong to any particular state government. "Rupee is actually our national currency and not a currency of any particular government in India. I don't see any reason for it," he said.

He emphasised that only the Government of India and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) are authorised to make any changes to the currency symbol. "The rupee is under the control of the Government of India and Reserve Bank of India, only they are authorised to do any changes in symbol. It is unconstitutional," he added.
