New Delhi: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) reported that domestic passenger traffic in February 2025 reached 14.04 million, reflecting an 11% year-on-year growth. However, this was slightly lower than January 2025’s 14.61 million passengers.

IndiGo remained the leading airline, carrying 8.94 million passengers and securing a 63.7% market share. Despite this, the airline's basis points dropped to 150. The Air India Group, comprising Air India, AirAsia India, and Vistara, held the second position with a 27.3% market share, flying 3.83 million passengers.

Akasa Air transported 658,000 passengers, accounting for a 4.5% market share, while SpiceJet carried 659,000 passengers, maintaining its 3.2% share. Notably, SpiceJet’s market share has significantly declined from its peak of 10.7% in February 2022.
IndiGo led in punctuality with an on-time performance of 80.2% across four major metro airports: New Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Mumbai. Akasa Air and the Air India Group ranked second and third, respectively, followed by SpiceJet.

The cancellation rate of scheduled domestic airlines improved, dropping to 0.63% in February 2025 from 0.90% in February 2024. Technical disruptions remained the primary reason for cancellations.

In compensation-related matters, airlines collectively spent INR 128.36 lakhs on 1,744 passengers who were denied boarding. Additionally, 18,717 passengers were affected by cancellations, leading to INR 24.86 lakhs being disbursed in compensation and facilities.
