Hyundai Motor has launched a revamped version of its popular entry-level mini SUV, the Casper, introducing new design elements and improved performance features, according to Yonhap news agency.
The updated Casper builds on the distinctive design of its predecessor, featuring a more rugged and sophisticated exterior along with a premium interior. Notable upgrades include newly designed 17-inch alloy wheels and redesigned rear lamps. Hyundai has also optimized the vehicle’s aerodynamic efficiency by refining the radiator grille and wheels to reduce air resistance.
In addition to the design changes, the company has improved noise and vibration reduction in the engine compartment, offering a quieter and more refined driving experience compared to the previous model.
The compact car comes equipped with a range of advanced safety and convenience features. It includes Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA) and Cruise Control as standard features, along with optional advanced driver assistance systems such as Highway Driving Assist (HDA), Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) with support for intersections and oncoming vehicles, and Smart Cruise Control with a stop-and-go function -- specifications that are rare to find in cars of this class.
To further enhance convenience, a button-operated door handle switch has been added to the passenger side, making it easier to open and close the door. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with an electric parking brake featuring an auto-hold function, which maintains braking while the vehicle is stopped, improving both driving and parking convenience.
Hyundai has also expanded its Casper lineup with the introduction of a new base model trim for the Casper Electric, which debuted in July. The new trim is equipped with a 42 kilowatt-hour ternary NCM (nickel-cobalt-manganese) battery, developed in collaboration with LG Energy Solution Ltd., and offers a driving range of up to 278 kilometers on a single charge.
The Casper Electric, known as the "Inster" in overseas markets, began accepting preorders in South Korea earlier this year and is set to launch domestically this summer, with future rollouts planned for Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific.
Hyundai has also started taking preorders for the long-range "Inspiration" variant of the Casper Electric, which was first revealed at the Busan International Mobility Show in June. This version features a 49kWh battery, providing a driving range of up to 315 kilometers on a single charge.
The new Casper Electric marks a significant step forward from the gas-powered model introduced in 2021, with a suite of improvements designed to meet the growing demand for electric vehicles.
