Mumbai: Raymond Group Chairman and Managing Director Gautam Hari Singhania sustained minor injuries after a speedboat accident in the Maldives. The industrialist has since returned to Mumbai and is currently recovering, according to an official statement.
The incident occurred early Friday near V Felidhoo in the Maldives, where a tourist speedboat capsized, reportedly carrying seven passengers. The group included international tourists as well as Indian nationals.
According to reports, the accident led to multiple passengers being thrown into the sea. While rescue teams managed to save some, two Indian nationals remain missing, including noted rally driver Hari Singh. Search and rescue operations are currently underway.
Gautam Singhania was among those on board and was safely rescued following the mishap. His spokesperson confirmed that he suffered minor injuries and is under medical care in Mumbai.
“We thank you for the wishes and pray for the well-being of the affected friends,” the spokesperson said, adding that Singhania is recovering well.
The passengers reportedly included five Indian men and two women from the United Kingdom and Russia. Authorities stated that at least five people were swept into the sea during the accident.
