Vadakara: Members of the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) can now check their account details more easily through a newly introduced facility called “Passbook Lite.”

Until now, members had to rely on the EPFO’s passbook portal to view details of contributions, withdrawals, and transactions. With this new feature, members can log in directly through the link https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface to access Passbook Lite. However, for comprehensive account information, the regular passbook portal will still need to be used.

The process of transferring PF accounts when changing jobs has also been simplified. Earlier, this had to be done online by submitting Form 13, after which a transfer certificate was sent from the old PF office to the new one. Currently, this certificate is shared only between PF offices and was provided to employees only on request. Now, the transfer certificate will be available online to members directly through the portal, allowing them to track the status of their transfer applications more transparently.

EPFO has also streamlined its approval system. Previously, PF transfers, settlements, advances, and refunds required multiple levels of approval, which often caused delays. The powers that were earlier vested only with the Regional Provident Fund Commissioner have now been extended to Assistant PF Commissioners and officers at lower levels. This move is expected to make processes more simple for members.
