New Delhi: Several states across India are celebrating local festivals this weekend, leading to questions about whether banks will remain open on Saturday, October 4, 2025.

As per the RBI holiday calendar, banks will be open today across the country except in Sikkim, where branches are closed for Durga Puja (Dasain). Since the day falls on the first Saturday of the month, banks such as SBI, HDFC, ICICI, and others are open for regular operations.

RBI rules specify that all banks remain closed on Sundays and on the second and fourth Saturdays. This means banks function normally on the first, third, and fifth Saturdays of the month.

In addition to weekends, banks also close for national holidays such as Independence Day, Republic Day, and Gandhi Jayanti, as well as for state-specific religious and regional festivals. October 2025 is a festive month, with holidays for Durga Puja, Vijayadashami, Lakshmi Puja, Karva Chauth, Diwali, Naraka Chaturdashi, Govardhan Puja, Balipadyami, Bhai Dooj, Chhath Puja, Maharshi Valmiki Jayanti, Kumar Purnima, and the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

For customers who require banking services on holidays, ATMs remain available 24x7, while online banking options such as NEFT, IMPS, RTGS, and UPI apps ensure uninterrupted transactions.
