60 Kerala PSUs record profit in 2021-22; KSEB marks comeback while KSRTC continues at loss

Thiruvananthapuram: The number of Public Sector Undertakings recording operational profits in Kerala have increased from 52 to 60 in the financial year of 2021-22 compared to the previous one.

The review report of PSUs tabled in the Assembly stated that the Kerala State Electricity Board has secured the highest profit worth Rs 736.27 crore in the last financial year. The board has revived from the loss of Rs 475.08 crore recorded in 2020-21.

However, as many as 61 PSUs are operating under loss in the state. Among them, KSRTC has recorded the highest loss of Rs 1787 crores. The total profit made by the 60 PSUs accounted for Rs 1570.21 crore. Rs 429.58 crore was the total profit generated from PSUs in 2020-21.

In 2021-22, as many as 11 PSUs, including Roads and Bridges Development Corporation, Travancore Titanium Products, Travancore Cochin Chemicals and Beverages Corporation have escaped from financial losses. Meanwhile, the Road Infrastructure Company, Kerala Life Science Industries Park, Impact Kerala and Coir Machinery Manufacturing Company have gone into loss.
