The victim has been identified as Arunthathi (68), a resident of Arumaloor, Kandala. She was reportedly attacked by a youth, who came to her house asking for drinking water.
Arunthathi fetched water for the youth, who drank it. On returning the glass, he slapped the woman on her face, snatched her gold chain and fled the place.
Soon after, Arunthathi, who was badly injured, informed the locals of the incident. She was rushed to the medical college by the Maranalloor police.
A similar incident was also reported in Velloorkonam a month ago.
