Mannarkkad: A nineteen-year-old boy lost his life during his return journey from Kodaikanal on the Palakkad-Kozhikode national highway. The deceased was identified as Mushraff from Chungath House. Besides him, six others were also severely injured and admitted to the hospital.
The tragic mishap took place at 1.30 a.m. on Tuesday near the Chooriyode Bridge. A minibus that was returning with travellers from Kanjirapuzha’s temple post-Vishu festivities collided with a car that belonged to residents of Thazhekode, who were also returning from a trip to Kodaikanal.
Locals brought the injured to a private hospital in Vattambalam, but Mushraff succumbed to injuries. Co-traveller Ryan, who hails from Thazhekode, suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a private hospital at Perinthalmanna.
Sonu Ahmed (20) of Nalakath House, Adinan (19), and Jaseem (20) of Maliyakathodi, who were travelling in the car, suffered injuries. Arun (24) and Sudhir (19) of Thachampara Oravil House, travelling in the minibus, were also shifted to the hospital because of the injury.
