Rajapuram: The custody of a Youth Congress leader who was accused of swindling lakhs of rupees by submitting fake land documents at the KSFE, Malakkallu branch, was handed over to the police.   

M Ismail (37), Youth Congress District General Secretary, will remain in police custody for two days and will be produced in the court yet again on Saturday, after further interrogation.

The accused list comprises eight persons, who are friends and relatives of Ismail. Other than Ismail, the rest are absconding. The fraud was carried out in the year 2019 where the accused siphoned off Rs 70 lakhs through multiple chits by submitting fake deeds. K Divya, manager at the KSFE Malakkallu branch, who detected the fraud, lodged a complaint with the Rajapuram police station. Following this, Ismail was arrested by the police yesterday.

Police informed that Ismail and company had carried out the fraud producing land deeds, revenue documents, and digital signatures of the village officer, which were all fake. 

Meanwhile, BP Pradeep Kumar, who is the president of Youth Congress in Kasaragod, assured of stringent action against their party leader Ismail.
