Thiruvananthapuram: Youth Congress filed a complaint to Kerala Governor requesting the removal of Chintha Jerome as chairperson of the Kerala State Youth Commission (KSYC).
Youth Congress state secretary Vishnu Sunil claimed that Chintha Jerome misused her official position and has been holding the office despite the end of her tenure.
The government formed the KSYC in 2014 to implement programs for educating and empowering the youth in the state and to function as a protector of their rights.
Chintha was appointed as KSYC chairperson in 2016. The tenure of appointment was three years. As per the Youth Commission act, a person in this post could only hold office for two terms. However, she continued to hold the office even after six years, the complainant alleged. She has been continuing the position to receive salary during the grace period too, the complaint noted.
Vishnu Sunil claimed that he has been receiving death threats for speaking against Chintha.
Chintha received flak from Youth Congres over controversies related to salary arrears, PhD dissertation and her stay at the apartment. The new development comes at this juncture.
