
Ponkunnam: Ponkunnam town in Kottayam hosted a reception for writer Thampy Antony, who conquered the hearts of Malayalis with his books. He published his first piece of Malayalam literature at the age of 55. He is also well known as an Indian-American film actor, producer, activist and as the brother of actor Babu Antony.
Thampy Antony arrived at the function hosted by Ponkunnam public library while the shoot for the movie ‘Headmaster’ based on Karoor Neelakanta Pillai’s book 'Pothichoru' was progressing.
State Library Council member Ponkunnam Syed presented the gift to Thampy Antony. The ceremony was presided over by library president T M Mathukutty. Thampy Antony gave copies of his book to the library. TS Baburaj presented the gift by the Ponkunnam library to Antony.
Taluk library council vice president PN Sojan, Poet P Madhu, Panchayat members Advocate Sumesh Andrews, KA Abraham, Library vice president Reji K John, Secretary PJ Jacob, M K Rajendra Singh, MV Jayaprakash and Binu Kunnumpuram delivered speeches during the ceremony.
