Won't back away, will fight legally, says 'Higuita' director

Kochi: Malayalam film director Hemanth G Nair asserted that he is not ready to change the title 'Higuita' of his upcoming project. The Kerala Film chamber of Commerce has banned him from using the title over a complaint filed by writer NS Madhavan. He declared his stance after holding talks with the Chamber representatives here on Tuesday.

" If necessary, I will handle it legally. I won't change the title of the movie," said the director.

Meanwhile, film chambers said that the name, 'Higuita', cannot be used until writer NS Madhavan gives consent to the filmmakers to use it.

NS Madhavan also filed a complaint before the film chamber alleging that his short story 'Higuita' was adopted for the movie without his permission.

However, the filmmakers said the movie has no connection to NS Madhavan's short story. They also brought a copy of the film's script and the short story to prove their point.
