Thiruvananthapuram: The government has not yet approved or released the application form required to select beneficiaries for the Women’s Security Scheme, which offers a monthly pension of ₹1,000 to women. However, complaints have reached the Election Commission and surveillance cells that LDF workers were distributing application forms for the pension scheme during campaigning in certain areas.

When the Commission sought clarification, the Finance Department responded that the approval process for the application form was still underway and that it would be published soon.

The government announced the Women’s Security Scheme just ahead of the local body elections. The order was issued before the model code of conduct came into force.

Although the government is attempting to begin pension disbursal before the polling date, this is not practically feasible as the official mechanisms for implementation are yet to be completed.
