Families across Kerala are being invited to showcase their creativity this International Women's Day 2026 through a unique digital campaign. The Kerala Postal Circle has launched ‘Omana Makal’, a reel-making competition running from 1st March to 7th March. This seven-day event aims to spread awareness about the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY), a government scheme designed to provide financial security for young girls.

Who can participate

The contest is specifically designed for families residing in Kerala who have daughters under the age of 10. To participate, parents must film an original Malayalam reel with their daughter, lasting between 60 and 120 seconds. The content should imaginatively explain how an SSY account secures a girl's future and highlight its key benefits.

To ensure eligibility, participants must follow the official Kerala Postal Circle pages on Instagram and Facebook. Reels must be uploaded to these platforms with the profile set to 'Public'. It is mandatory to use the hashtag #OmanaMakal and tag the official Kerala Postal Circle handle. Supporting tags like #KeralaPostalCircle and #IndiaPost should also be included.

Rewards and Evaluation Criteria

The initiative offers daily rewards to encourage wide participation. Every day, four winners will be selected—two from the general public and two from the postal staff. Each winner will receive a ₹1,500 cash prize and a digital certificate. Staff members of the Kerala Postal Circle, including GDS, are eligible for specific categories and must include the additional hashtag #MyPrideMyPO.

A dedicated committee will judge the entries based on five key areas: originality, thematic relevance to SSY, clarity of the Malayalam narrative, technical video quality, and social media engagement. Metrics such as likes, shares, and comments will play a vital role in the scoring process.

Winners will be announced by 6:00 PM the day following their submission. Organisers have clarified that the decision of the evaluation committee is final.

Participants are urged to monitor their messages, as winners must respond promptly to claim their prizes. Through this vibrant campaign, the postal department seeks to celebrate daughters while strengthening financial inclusion across the state.
